Udaipur itinerary for 2 days

A 2-day Udaipur trip plan in which each day stays in one part of Udaipur, in route order: City Palace and Lake Pichola; and Fateh Sagar and Sajjangarh.

Udaipur is built around Lake Pichola, and almost everything worth seeing is on or above its shore. The old city is walkable, sunsets are the fixed point of every day, and two to three days is enough unless you are adding Kumbhalgarh or Ranakpur.

2-day Udaipur itinerary, day by day

Day 1: City Palace and Lake Pichola

Arrive. The old city on the lake shore. Palace in the morning, the boat to Jag Mandir before sunset, and the Dharohar dance show at Bagore ki Haveli in the evening.

  • City Palace
  • Jagdish Temple
  • Lake Pichola boat ride to Jag Mandir

Day 2: Fateh Sagar and Sajjangarh

North and west of the old city: the courtyard garden, a lap of Fateh Sagar, and the Monsoon Palace on its hilltop for sunset. Keep the end of the day free so the journey home is not rushed.

  • Saheliyon ki Bari
  • Fateh Sagar Lake
  • Sajjangarh Biological Park

Where to stay

Stay by Lake Pichola — Lal Ghat, Gangaur Ghat or Hanuman Ghat across the water — so the old city and the sunset points are a walk away.

When to go

September to March is the best window, with the lakes full after the monsoon and evenings cool enough for rooftop dinners. Summer is hot and the lakes can run low before the rains.

Getting there

Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) is 22 km out; Udaipur City station connects to Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai.
