Goa itinerary for 7 days

A 7-day Goa trip plan in which each day stays in one part of Goa, in route order: Candolim, Calangute and Baga; Anjuna, Vagator and Chapora; Ashwem, Mandrem and Arambol; Panjim and Old Goa; Ponda spice farms and Dudhsagar Falls; Colva, Benaulim and Cabo de Rama; and Palolem, Agonda and Butterfly Beach.

Goa splits cleanly in two: the north is busier, with nightlife and beach shacks around Baga, Calangute and Anjuna, while the south is quieter and better for families and couples. Most trips stay in one half — crossing between them costs an hour each way and is the most common planning mistake.

7-day Goa itinerary, day by day

Day 1: Candolim, Calangute and Baga

Arrive in North Goa. The busy strip of North Goa: water sports in the morning while the sea is calm, beach shacks for lunch, the fort for sunset and Baga after dark — all within 10 km.

  • Calangute and Baga beaches, water sports
  • Candolim Beach
  • Fort Aguada and lighthouse at sunset

Day 2: Anjuna, Vagator and Chapora

The rockier, younger end of North Goa. Time the Anjuna flea market for a Wednesday and the Arpora night market for a Saturday.

  • Anjuna flea market (Wednesdays)
  • Anjuna Beach
  • Chapora Fort viewpoint
  • Vagator Beach

Day 3: Ashwem, Mandrem and Arambol

The quiet far north, closest to Mopa airport: long empty beaches, yoga shalas and the drum circle at Arambol at sunset.

  • Morning yoga class in Mandrem
  • Ashwem and Mandrem beaches
  • Arambol sweet-water lake
  • Arambol Beach drum circle at sunset

Day 4: Panjim and Old Goa

The Portuguese heart of Goa: churches in the morning before the heat, the painted lanes of Fontainhas at lunch, and a river cruise on the Mandovi at sunset.

  • Basilica of Bom Jesus
  • Se Cathedral
  • Fontainhas Latin Quarter walk and lunch
  • Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church

Day 5: Ponda spice farms and Dudhsagar Falls

Inland Goa. The Dudhsagar jeep safari runs roughly October to May; book it the day before and start early to be back by evening.

  • Dudhsagar Falls jeep safari
  • Spice plantation tour with Goan lunch
  • Shri Mangueshi Temple

Day 6: Colva, Benaulim and Cabo de Rama

Check out and move to South Goa today. South Goa’s long sandy beaches and the clifftop fort. Quieter, family-friendly, and a good first day if you land at Dabolim.

  • Benaulim Beach
  • Colva Beach
  • Cabo de Rama Fort
  • Seafood dinner at a Betalbatim beach shack

Day 7: Palolem, Agonda and Butterfly Beach

The prettiest coves in the state. Take the boat to Butterfly Beach in the morning and keep the afternoon for doing nothing. Keep the end of the day free so the journey home is not rushed.

  • Butterfly Beach boat trip from Palolem
  • Palolem Beach
  • Agonda Beach

The app times each stop for your dates and shows the driving distance between stops and the cab cost for each day.

Where to stay

Stay in North Goa (Candolim to Anjuna) for beaches, water sports and nightlife, or South Goa (Benaulim to Palolem) for quiet beaches. On a trip of four days or less, pick one half; Panjim and Old Goa are an easy day from either.

When to go

November to February is the peak season: dry, warm and with water sports running. March to May is hot but cheaper, and the monsoon from June to September closes most beach activity while turning the interior green.

Getting there

Fly into Goa (Dabolim, GOI) or Manohar International (GOX) at Mopa; Madgaon and Thivim are the main railheads.
